The vision.
The Range is a large coastal hillside residence in Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula, designed as a forever home for a retired couple. The brief was specific. A house that feels small to live in even at this scale, and a system that any grandchild, friend or guest can read on the wall. Family connection space for the grandchildren had to sit naturally inside the daily rhythm of two. Simplicity carried the whole project.
The experience.
Scene-based lighting and shading runs across the residence on a small named set: morning, day, evening, away. The hillside warms up before breakfast and quietens itself after dinner without a hand on a switch. Unified climate holds one comfortable temperature across every zone, large rooms and small ones treated the same. Audio sits on the same Control4 backbone, called only when wanted and otherwise quiet. The family connection space for grandchildren reads as easily as the main living rooms, so visiting children and grandparents share the same simple controls. Everything the household touches is on one keypad or one app. A large home that lives small. The grandchildren can run it. The grandparents already do.
